Maps

There are forty San Francisco cable cars used in regular service: 28 single-ended cars that run on the Powell Street lines and need a turntable to reverse direction; and 12 double-ended, slightly longer cable cars that run on the California Street line.

Market Street Railway illustrated all of SF cable-car liveries. The Powell Street line is below, see the rest here.

Vizier Amenemope’s paint box—over 3,400 years old—is beautifully preserved in the Cleveland Museum of Art’s collection.

Cornelia Parker’s Breathless is made of 54 defunct brass band instruments. They have been squashed flat and hung from wires, with polished upper surfaces and tarnished undersides. See it at the Victoria & Albert Museum.
